Ce week-end, Alex Pereira put his crown back on the line. The Brazilian arrived undefeated among the light heavyweights of the UFC (4-0). He earned a split decision victory over Jan Blachowicz before fighting for the vacant title against Jiri Prochazka in November 2023. He won by 2nd round TKO, and has already defended his belt twice. He knocked out Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in April and TKOed Jiri Prochazka again at UFC 303 in June.

Khalil Rountree Jr. (number 8) for his part, remained on a series of 5 consecutive victories including 4 by KO/TKO and 1 by decision. In his last fight, he knocked out Anthony Smith in spectacular fashion. The American has one of the biggest physiques in the division, and hits like a mule. According to several UFC athletes, ‘The War Horse’ had the ability to beat the odds. He himself was confident before the fight against ‘Poatan’.
