The iPhone SE 4 will be the first smartphone with an integrated 5G modem by Apple

Apple plans to release an updated version of the iPhone SE next year, which will be the company’s first device to feature its own 5G modem.

Here’s what we know

This will be the first update to the SE model since 2022. Apple acquired most of Intel’s smartphone modem business for $1 billion in 2019 in an effort to become more independent. However, until now the company used Qualcomm modems.

The iPhone SE 4 will be similar to the iPhone 14 and will feature an A18 chip with 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence features. The device will have Face ID and will lack the home button like previous SE models. The cameras will be similar to those of the iPhone 15: 48 MP wide angle and 12 MP on the front.

Apple plans to test its modem on a single device before rolling it out en masse. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be revealed next spring.
