A new addition to the Red Devils…and already a favorite of Tedesco? “Maybe he will play…” – All football

Domenico Tedesco announced his list for the Nations League matches this month of October. Matte Smets is one of the new players called up.

Domenico Tedesco’s list for Nations League matches is getting a lot of attention. Already for the (expected) absences of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, but also for new players called up.

This is the case of Matte Smets. A promising international with Belgium, he had already trained with the Red Devils before. He has had a very good start to the season with Genk.

This Friday at a press conference, Domenico Tedesco explained the selection of the young 20-year-old central defender. “He took part in a training session with us last time and we are of course following his performances at Genk.”

“He is young, very talented and we want to see him during this period in training to teach him some principles. And probably he will play too, we will see.”

In the columns ofThe Latest NewsMatte Smets himself reacted to this first selection. “I received a lot of congratulatory messages this morning and I was really in shock. It’s proof for all young players that everything can happen very quickly in football.”

“I’m happy to be where I am, but I know I haven’t done anything yet. I don’t know if I’ll get the chance to play, but it’s definitely a great boost and a great reward.”
