Xavier Niel, founder of Free, does not mince his words regarding Elon Musk in his new book “A sacred desire to fuck up” published by Flammarion. The French boss paints an uncompromising portrait of the American entrepreneur at the head of Tesla, SpaceX and X.

During an interview on Inter, Niel reiterated his criticism of Musk, whom he describes as a “brilliant entrepreneur” while attributing unflattering character traits to him. He points out Musk’s controversial statements, often perceived as excessive or misleading, particularly since his political commitment in favor of Donald Trump.

The founder of Free accuses his American counterpart of making irresponsible comments and generating animosity. “He says an impossible, improbable amount of stupid things,” he says, adding that these statements contribute to creating “violence.”

Niel highlights the importance of certain ethics in business and the potential consequences of public statements on the health of companies. He refers in particular to the devaluation of X (formerly Twitter) since its takeover by Musk and the defection of many advertisers.
