Sony fixed a bug on PlayStation 5, with ads appearing on the home screen instead of backgrounds highlighting the selected game.
Players with a PS5 lamented the change, saying that the game artwork that was previously displayed when they selected a title had disappeared. Instead, content that would normally appear as a news message in a separate section of the PS5’s UI was present on screen behind the games.

Several hours after players’ reports on X (formerly Twitter), Reddit and several forums, Sony corrected the situation and announced it through its Ask PlayStation account:
A technical error with the Official News feature on the PS5 console has since been resolved. There has been no change to the way gaming news is displayed on the PS5.
It remains to be seen whether this was really a “technical error” as Sony announced or whether it was the intended behavior and the company went back following numerous criticisms from players.
