Faced with the red lantern, Luka Elsner’s men quickly made the difference, through Keito Nakamura (9th) and Junya Ito (25th). Sergio Akieme’s goal (79th) allowed Reims not to tremble too much after Zinedine Ferhat (84th) reduced the gap.
Nantes still close behind
This fourth place could have been for FC Nantes if the Canaries, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Beaujoire stadium, had beaten Saint-Etienne (2-2). Everything started perfectly, however, because the man in form Johann Lepenant opened the scoring (10th) before creating a festival along the goal line to serve Sorba Thomas (49th).
But the Greens, a week after their humiliating 8-0 loss to Nice, were able to raise their heads. Ibrahim Sissoko placed his head on a cross (58th) before scoring twice from the penalty spot (67th). The Nantais could have obtained a penalty in their turn for a charge on Lepenant (75th), but on arrival, it was the third meeting in a row, after Reims (1-2) and Angers (1-1), where Antoine Kombouaré’s men did not win after opening the score.
