Saint-Etienne imposes a draw in

AS Saint-Etienne will not leave with another historic defeat in their bag. A week after the scathing setback suffered in (8-0), the Forézien club even left Beaujoire with a point (its first draw of the season) this weekend. The result is in reality as valuable as it is happy as the Greens were regularly pushed around on the banks of the Erdre, in addition to being very rarely dangerous offensively.

Faced with Nantes in slow motion before this day (2-1 defeat against , 1-1 draw at ), Dall’Oglio’s players therefore suffered a lot, particularly in the first period, also showing themselves to be approximate in their interventions. It was also in a situation that was poorly managed by Appiah and Batubinsika that Lepenant opened the scoring from the surface, with a sharp left-footed strike (1-0, 11th). Without necessarily piling up clear chances, the Canaries clearly controlled the debates against the totally powerless Foréziens and they could even have led 3-0 at the break, if Augusto had not missed two clear opportunities in the area (9th, 41st ).

“We sabotaged ourselves”

An epiphenomenon for the FCN? This was the thesis accredited in the second when Nantes quickly doubled the stake, Lepenant then cracking a small festival along the line to then serve Thomas on a plate (2-0, 49th). Still clearly superior in all areas of the game, the Yellow and Green even came close to 3-0 but it was ultimately the post that saved the Greens on a deflected shot from Abline (54th). And the rest was not really in their favor. ASSE first reduced the gap thanks to a nice header from Sissoko from a corner (2-1, 57th), the latter scoring twice and equalizing on a penalty given by Castelletto (2-2, 67th, sp).

Two chances, two goals and a point taken: this is the Sunday result for the Greens, who were also able to count on a decisive Larsonneur against Mollet at the end of the match (90th + 2). “We sabotaged ourselves. We didn’t learn from our mistakes“, for his part regretted Cozza after the meeting on DAZN. More than the post, “It was the goal that hurt us, continued the Nantes defender. We went way back and stopped playing.” A metamorphosis which, according to him at least, precipitated the FCN towards a third consecutive match without a victory, still however in the first part of the table. ASSE remains penultimate but, given the contexts of the week and the match, the point taken appears like a small miracle.
