Mathieu Warnier, Media365: published on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 11:45 p.m.

Discover our tops and our flops following Monaco’s victory against (2-1) this Saturday on the pitch at the Stade Louis-II on the occasion of the 6th day of Ligue 1.

The tops

Balogun never doubted

Folarin Balogun only needed to find the frame once. If he was imprecise against the Montpellier goal, the Monegasque striker was able to be precise when it was necessary to revive his team, led by the score to everyone’s surprise by Montpellier. Despite the few balls and some difficulties against the Hérault defense, the American striker never reduced the sail in a very important match for his club.

Bertaud delayed the deadline

If Montpellier was able to believe in a draw in the Principality until the last second, it is largely thanks to its goalkeeper. In the wake of his successful start against , Dimitry Bertaud confirmed that Michel Der Zakarian’s confidence was not usurped with four high-class saves which cast doubt on the Montpellier attack. A success that the DR Congo international, however, was unable to maintain until the final whistle, conceding a late goal synonymous with defeat for the MHSC.

Nzingoula made Louis II doubt

Rabby Nzingoula learns very quickly. The midfielder on loan from took advantage of this trip to Monaco to unlock his goal counter after a well-conducted counterattack. If he was not effective in dribbling and was sometimes clumsy, the Congolese hung on in the duels against the Monegasque midfielder. If he was replaced by Birama Touré as the last 20 minutes approached, he will have given his coach reason for satisfaction.

The flops

Transparent bag

His substitution at half-time was no surprise. Established on the right side of the Montpellier defense, Falaye Sacko paid dearly for a very complicated first period against Breel Embolo and Eliesse Ben Seghir. Having lost too many balls and not having had the contribution that Michel Der Zakarian could have hoped for, the Malian defender gave way to a more prominent Enzo Tchato for the last 45 minutes.

Akliouche not in his legs

Maghnes Akliouche did not celebrate the centenary of the ASM as it should. The young player from the Principality club had a match far from its standards with few balls and even less well exploited. Not having weighed on the Montpellier defense, he convinced Adi Hütter to replace him with Georges Ilenikhena for the last 25 minutes of the match.

Coulibaly, too many mistakes

Tanguy Coulibaly may regret his excess of commitment. Warned in the 12th minute, the Montpellier striker was able to push to the forefront, his performance will remain marred by this second yellow card received at the start of added time. Leaving his teammates at ten against the Monegasques ready to do anything to snatch victory, he was a simple spectator on the decisive goal scored by Lamine Camara at the very last second.
