US President Donald Trump on Saturday praised British head of government Keir Starmer for his “very good job”promising to call him within 24 hours. “I think he’s done a very good job so far.”the American president told the press aboard the presidential plane Air Force One about the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. “I like him very much”he added.
Keir Starmer was the target of virulent attacks from Elon Musk. The richest man in the world, an ally of Donald Trump, recently led a virulent charge against the Labor prime minister on his X platform, going so far as to call for his ouster. The American president added to journalists that even if he was not “disagree with philosophy” of Keir Starmer, he had “a very good relationship with him”. “He’s left-wing, which is a little different from me, but I think he’s a very good person. He and I will talk within 24 hours.”he said.
The British government, in office since last July, is trying to establish good relations with Donald Trump’s team, despite numerous differences. The head of British diplomacy David Lammy, who in 2018 described Trump as “wigged tyrant”paid tribute this week to the “incredible grace”which the American allegedly demonstrated during a dinner with him and Keir Starmer in September in New York.
