KAA Gent has strengthened its attack with Dante Vanzeir And thus realizes the first of the intended reinforcements. The 26-year-old Belgian signed a contract in Ghent until 2028. Vanzeir leaves New York, where he played football for two seasons for the NY Red Bulls.
Dante is no stranger to the Belgian football fan. He went through the youth series of KRC Genk, after which he was lent to Beerschot and KV Mechelen. In 2020 he exchanged Limburg for the capital: the striker promoted with Union SG to the highest class and scored 48 times in 91 matches for the people of Brussels.
All those goals gave Dante a transfer to the Major League Soccer. With the New York Red Bulls he reached the final of the MLS in December. Vanzeir had an important share in that final place, because he was good for two goals and an assist in the four preceding play-off matches.
La Galaxy was too strong in the MLS final, but Vanzeir can leave New York with his head held high. Now he is coming to score goals in Ghent. Dante awaits impatience for his first minutes in the Arena:
