Ferrari confirm next Hamilton F1 test dates

Ferrari has confirmed to RacingNews365 when Lewis Hamilton will get his second run-out ahead of his first season with the Scuderia.

The British driver, along with team-mate Charles Leclerc, will complete a test for the Italian team at the current home of the Spanish Grand Prix, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, between January 28-30.

The test, which is Tuesday to Thursday next week, is set to be behind closed doors and the kilometres accrued will be taken off the two drivers’ 1000km totals, spread over no more than four days.

That is part of a new rule regarding the Testing of Previous Cars [TPC] introduced for the 2025 F1 season, listed under section B (article 11.3.7) of the F1 sporting regulations in which drivers are allowed mileage in cars two years old or later.

It has not yet been confirmed which previous Ferrari will be used, but RacingNews365 understands it will either be the 2023 SF-23 or 2022 F1-75, the former of which was used in Hamilton’s first test at Fiorano on Wednesday.

The seven-time F1 drivers’ champion racked up 30 laps of Ferrari’s 2.997km private circuit on Wednesday, meaning roughly 90km of his 1000km allocation has already been used. Leclerc, on the other hand, managed only 14 laps, or about 42km.

Following Ferrari’s second test, there will then be a Pirelli tyre test on February 4-5 at the same venue, in which the Italian team will also participate alongside McLaren.

This will allow Hamilton to get behind the wheel of last year’s Ferrari, the SF-24, which came close to clinching the constructors’ championship for the team, finishing just 14 points adrift of McLaren.
