Marco Odermatt triumphs for the first time in Kitzbühel. The Austrian Raphael Haaser prevented a Swiss triple victory in the Super-G. In addition, many falls shaped the race.

Although he still got some time in the lowest part of the route, Marco Odermatt was faster than the first pursuers at the finish line or 30 hundredths. Franjo von Allmen, who was still at the top at the third last time, took 4th place.

Because of a series of falls, the race was interrupted several times. Alexis Pinturault, who returned from a cruciate ligament tear in December, had to be removed with the helicopter due to suspicion of a new knee injury.

Florian Loriot did the same, and with Nils Alphand it caught a wide athlete from the French team who already complains about the failure of Cyprien Sarrazin. Dominik Paris also landed in the snow on the gruff streak, but the Italian was not injured.

Impressive record of the dominator

Odermatt, who is also aiming for the first victory in the Hahnenkamm descent on Saturday, is only the third Swiss Super-G winner on the streak to Didier Défago (2014) and Didier Cuche (2010). The dominator of recent years has not been a perfect trip, but it was enough for the second win of the season in this discipline.

Since March 2022, Odermatt in the Super-G did not rank only last weekend in Wengen in the top 5. Ten of the 21 races he has won since then, 17 times he was on the podium.

The crisis-ridden Austrians expanded their strong yield in the home super-G thanks to Raphael Haaser. Although the race for the team leader Vincent Kriechmayr, who fell in Wengen, came too early, in the 22nd Kitzbühel-Super-G there was an ÖSV athlete on the podium for the 21st time. (riz/sda)
