Harry Maguire and Joshua Zirkzee both make same clear-cut point in messages to Man Utd fans after Rangers win

Joshua Zirkzee and Harry Maguire were both on the same wavelength after Manchester United’s Europa League win over Rangers at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Manchester United and Rangers were level going into half-time with a 0-0 scoreline on the board before the Red Devils took the lead in the second half.

Jack Butland put the ball in the back of his own net after he failed to clear Christian Eriksen’s corner and the ball skidded off his first during the set-piece.

Rangers climbed back into the match in the 88th minute after Harry Maguire was exposed defensively and Cyriel Dessers found an equaliser for the Scottish side.

However, United ensured their victory on Thursday evening after Bruno Fernandes scored from close range in injury time to seal all three Europa League points.

Zirkzee and Maguire react after Man Utd win

Manchester United have won their last four Europa League matches under Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils have inched closer to the knockout rounds.

The Red Devils have not lost a match in the Europa League this season and United are fourth in the table for the league phase format of the competition.

Ruben Amorim’s side will definitely secure their place in the last 16 if they beat Romania club FCSB at the National Arena in Bucharest next week.

Harry Maguire came off the bench for United against Rangers and the 31-year-old England defender replaced Matthijs de Ligt after the break.

Joshua Zirkzee, on the other hand, started the Europa League contest and managed 82 minutes before he was hooked off for United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Maguire, who has seen a resurgence in form under Amorim, took to Instagram after the match and the United centre-back sent a clear message to fans about the result.

“Important win at Old Trafford,” he wrote on Instagram Stories.

Zirkzee, much like Red Devils teammate Maguire, stressed the importance of United’s Europa League win at Old Trafford in a social media post.

However, the 23-year-old Dutch forward went one step further by adding that United must now “focus” on their match against Fulham on Sunday.

“Great win. Focus on Sunday,” Zirkzee posted on Instagram Stories.

Amorim speaks out on transfer after Man Utd win

Following the 2-1 Europa League match at Old Trafford, Amorim insisted that he is ‘focused’ on United’s matches over what is happening regarding transfers.

“It is not other managers’ players, they are now my players,” he said at his post-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“You know the situation of the club and then we have to think what brought us to this moment and to this situation.

“We need to be really clear on everything and now my focus is on the next games. I understand the question but they are my players at the moment.”
