Before challenging Paris Saint-Germain in a very important Champions League match for both clubs, the Sky Blues confirmed this Sunday that their sporting crisis was behind them: on the occasion of the 22e day of the Premier League, the reigning English champion indeed held a set to Ipswich without conceding a single goal. The visitors thus scored three goals in each half, playing attacking football which must have pleased Pep Guardiola (despite a start to the match rather to the advantage of the locals).
A small goal for Haaland after his contract extension
It was Phil Foden who started the hostilities, the Englishman opening the scoring on a serve from Kevin De Bruyne at the half-hour mark and scoring twice shortly before the break following another decisive pass from the Belgian. Between these two pawns, Mateo Kovacic (found by… Foden) made the break, taking advantage of good work from Jérémy Doku. In the second half, the Citizens did not reduce the pace: the former Rennes also shook the nets with a small personal exploit, Erling Haaland obviously celebrated his XXL contract extension (assist of the ex-Breton) and James McAtee hit the nail on the head thanks to Kovacic's caviar.
