Half-time conclusion: The SGE started the game with a lot of fire and the spectators in Deutsche Bank Park saw a lively opening phase. Eintarch could have taken the lead after less than a minute. However, Hugo Larsson’s shot was defused with BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel’s foot. Shortly afterwards, Dortmund almost had the right answer: From the SGE’s point of view, Serhou Guirassy’s header fortunately only landed on the aluminum. However, head coach Dino Toppmöller’s team continued to play undeterred and were rewarded after just under a quarter of an hour: Hugo Ekitiké showed that he too is a top striker. After a cross from Rasmus Kristensen, the Frenchman stayed cool and pushed the ball into the far corner to take the lead. A bang against the post and an individual effort from Ekitiké almost extended the lead before the break. For BVB it was mainly long balls towards the penalty area, which, however, usually didn’t pose any major problems for the SGE. So far, Eintracht has shown that they are a very good Bundesliga team even without Marmoush and are heading for their next home win.
The time has come, Frankfurter Eintracht’s first game without Marmoush is on the schedule. Now that the attacker’s move to Manchester City is on the home stretch, the Egyptian is no longer in the Eintracht squad this Friday evening – a very common way in the football world in order not to risk an injury and thus the transfer falling through. The SGE could definitely need the striker this Friday evening, because it is against Borussia Dortmund and thus against a direct competitor for the European places. Dortmund have been rather weak recently, but the balance of both teams’ last games clearly goes to BVB. So everything is set for the next “six-point game” in Frankfurt’s Waldstadion.
Against Dortmund, SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller can rely on almost all players apart from Marmoush. Ansgar Knauff comes into play for Marmoush, for whom the game here and now is also a reunion with his former club. Timothy Chandler is a new addition to the squad. Otherwise there are no changes compared to the 4-1 win against SC Freiburg, Toppmöller trusts the same team.
Borussia Dortmund starts with the following line-up:
-Kobel – Schlotterbeck, Anton, Ryerson – Can, Gittens, Nmecha, Groß, Brandt – Guirassy
On the bench: Meyer, Couto, Qatar, Reyna, Sabitzer, Campbell, Beier, Duranville, Adeyemi
