Road traffic
When the commute to work becomes a test of patience: Congested streets everywhere in Aargau
In large parts of the Ostaargau and on the A1 motorway, patience was required from road users on Friday morning. In some cases they had to reckon with time losses of over an hour and a half.
For example, there was a traffic jam on the A1 motorway in the direction of Zurich between Lenzburg and Wettingen-Ost. This comes after a serious accident that occurred on the Limmat Viaduct and resulted in an extended travel time of up to 1 hour and 40 minutes, according to TCS traffic information. Travelers from the direction of Bern were asked to use the recommended diversions from the A1/Wiggertal junction via A2/A14/A4/A3. According to Viasuisse, the accident site was cleared after 8 a.m. and traffic returned to normal.
There was also a traffic jam on the A3 motorway from the direction of Basel between the Habsburg Tunnel and the Birrfeld junction.
-Traffic was also congested on several main roads on Friday morning. For example on the main road Windisch towards Wohlen, where there is between Hausen and Brugg jammed. There was also a backlog on the main road between Wohlenschwil and Fislisbach as well as between Wohlen and Bremgarten.
The traffic was also overloaded between Dättwil and Baden towards the city center and on the main street between Oberwil-Lieli and the A3 motorway entrance in Birmensdorf. (luk)
