First Alert Summary
We’ll wrap up the work week Friday with plenty of sunshine and near normal temperatures. Highs by the afternoon will top out in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Clouds are on track to increase out of the west by tomorrow night ahead of our next weather maker.
Scattered showers will become likely as early as Saturday morning from an approaching frontal system. Coverage looks to taper off a bit by the end of the day with just hit or miss showers possible. A few scattered showers could also be around at times Sunday, mainly in the morning.
We’ll dry out and turn sunny by Monday for MLK Day as colder air begins to move in. Expect highs right around 40-degrees in the afternoon.
Interesting things in our weather could take place by early to middle part of next week. Data continues to suggest another winter system could impact the Midlands by the Tuesday/Wednesday timeframe. There’s still a lot of uncertainty in the forecast this far out with the timing, path of the system, and precipitation type. Make sure to check back in for more updates.
We are more confident in the chance of brutally cold weather next week. High temperatures may only be in the 30s with overnight lows in the 20s/upper teens. Wind chills will likely be even lower.
