Hans “Hausi” Leutenegger, self-made millionaire and entrepreneur, is celebrating his 85th birthday. The Thurgau native looks back on an eventful life.

Today Hausi Leutenegger turns 85 years old. At the same time, his company, Hans Leutenegger AG, is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

“Car-tours.ch” reports that the company now employs over 1,000 people and achieves annual sales of around 100 million francs. Leutenegger, known for his self-confidence, looks back positively on his life.

The “Handelszeitung” mentions that at the age of 22 he was still selling pans and mixers at trade fairs. In 1965 he founded Hans Leutenegger AG, as he explains on his website.

The path to success was not always easy. Leutenegger remembers times when he was mistrusted.

Despite initial difficulties, he emphasized in an interview with “Schweizer Illustrierte”: “The money made me happy.” He particularly appreciates the opportunity to take care of those around him.

On his homepage he talks about his Olympic victory in the four-man bobsleigh in 1972 and his film career with around 35 international productions. This versatility made him a well-known personality in Switzerland.

Despite his financial success, Leutenegger emphasizes the importance of family and love. “My family and my children are extremely important to me because they love me!” he explains in “SI Talk”.

This appreciation is reflected in his philosophy of life. At 85, Leutenegger remains active and positive.

Leutenegger faces his age with composure. He is aware that every day after 80 is a gift.

He is not afraid of death, but sees it as “something beautiful,” based on a previous near-death experience. Although he has retired from operational business, Leutenegger remains connected to his company.

He says he visits all branches regularly, but is only interested in positive news. Hausi Leutenegger’s life, from a career as a dishwasher to a successful entrepreneur, remains an inspiring story.
