Four years after its debut, Free is significantly evolving its fiber optic offering for businesses. Free Pro is finally catching up with the operator's general public formulas in terms of speeds: internet access goes up to 8 Gbit/s in both directions, compared to 7 Gbit/s in reception and 1 Gbit/s in sending previously. . In addition to the general public FTTH network, Free Pro still relies on a network infrastructure dedicated to businesses, formerly Jaguar Network.
The router is also improving greatly. The new Freebox Pro includes Wi-Fi 7 on four bands, including 6 GHz which allows reduced latency and higher speeds, instead of Wi-Fi 5. The repeaters are also switching to Wi-Fi 7. They cost €40 excluding VAT per unit, up to a maximum of three.
The two SATA hard drive slots are replaced by more modern NVMe 2280 SSD slots. A 1TB drive is always provided free of charge and 200GB of online storage is offered.
Like its predecessor, whose general design it adopts, the new Freebox Pro is designed to be able to be inserted into a 19″ rack. A racking kit at €45 excluding VAT is only offered at the time of subscription.
The router has four 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports (including 1 PoE port for directly powering a device), 1 60W USB-C port, 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 SFP+ 10G LAN port and 1 FXS phone port. L'optical network unitthe equipment which converts the optical signal into an electrical signal, is integrated.
-The Freebox Pro uses a new 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor and 4 GB of RAM. The operator promises energy consumption reduced by 40% compared to the old model. You can reduce your consumption even further using a mode that cuts off Wi-Fi 7 if you don't need it. The router also includes a new “total sleep” mode reducing its consumption by up to 95%.
On the services side, the Free offer for businesses includes a new cybersecurity solution, Cyber Protect Essentiel, which continuously analyzes flows to protect the local network from threats. This solution is based on technology from the French publisher ITrust.
As from the start, the offer also includes a backup 4G connection in the event of a fiber outage (too bad not to have upgraded this automatic backup to 5G) as well as a Free Pro 5G mobile plan. This professional mobile plan remains less generous than the plans for individuals, since it “only” includes 150 GB in France and 28 GB abroad. Additional Free Pro 5G plans cost €9.99/month. Concerning landline telephony, two lines are included.
The price of the Free Pro offer does not change: €39.99 excluding VAT/month for 1 year then €49.99 excluding VAT/month. Subscription is without obligation. The commissioning costs amount to €50 excluding tax.
