Temporary traffic restrictions
The Aisne department has been placed by Météo France on yellow alert for snow/ice risk today, until Friday January 10 at the end of the morning.
If snowfall is not forecast, Thiérache, Saint-Quentinois and Vermandois could be particularly impacted by a nocturnal refreezing phenomenon likely to make traffic conditions on the road network difficult.
Faced with the phenomenon of refreezing expected tonight in the north of the department and to prevent the risk of accidents on the road network, the prefect of the North and the Hauts-de-France region, and the prefect of Aisne, have taken , by decree, the following traffic restriction measures:
For motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) greater than 3.5 tonnes:
- prohibition of overtaking maneuvers;
- limitation of the maximum authorized speed to 80 km/h on all national roads and motorways;
- maximum speed limit authorized at 70 km/h outside built-up areas on departmental roads.
For motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of less than 3.5 tonnes:
- limitation of the maximum authorized speed:
at 110 km/h on the motorway network;
at 90 km/h on roads where the speed is limited to 110 km/h;
at 80 km/h on roads where the speed is limited to 90 km/h;
at 70 km/h on roads where the speed is limited to 80 km/h
-These measures apply from 8 p.m. this Thursday until Friday, January 10 at 11 a.m. They may be renewed depending on the evolution of the weather situation.
Prefect Fanny ANOR invites Axonais to exercise the greatest caution if they have to take the road in poor conditions and would like to remind them of the following recommendations:
• postpone or limit travel;
• find out about traffic conditions (Bison Futé for the national road network:
www.bisonfute.gouv.fr) and on the evolution of weather conditions
(www.www.meteofrance.fr) before any trip;
• moderate and adapt your speed to traffic conditions;
• avoid braking or changing direction too suddenly;
• be particularly vigilant in snowy or icy areas;
