Coco Gauff has a new coach, Matt Daly, by her side at the 2025 Australian Open. This marks her first Grand Slam collaboration with the American coach.
Gauff broke her highly talked-about partnership with Brad Gilbert after her 2024 US Open exit against compatriot Emma Navarro. Gilbert, who previously coached the likes of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick, first joined the 20-year-old’s team during her historic 2023 American hardcourt swing.
During the partnership, Gauff clinched four titles, including the Citi Open, the Cincinnati Open, and the US Open in 2023. Alongside Gilbert, the American was also coached by Pere Riba, who rejoined Zheng Qinwen’s team immediately after Gauff’s New York triumph.
“We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!” Coco Gauff wrote on X, announcing her split from Brad Gilbert in September 2024.
The American has found the veteran coach’s replacement in Matt Daly. Daly is known for his partnership with former World No. 10 Denis Shapovalov. He specializes in footwork and grip technique and has been essential in improving Coco Gauff’s serve and forehand.
Immediately after Gauff announced that she had hired Daly as her coach in October 2024, the World No. 3 snapped her title drought, ending the season with her maiden titles at the WTA 1000 in Beijing and the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
