Do you remember October’s El Clasico, in which FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid? The one that Robert Lewandowski or Raphinha showed off in? If not, that’s okay, because a rerun was on. Hansi Flick beat the Royals for the second time.
The Saudis must be happy. It’s not cheap, but it’s not average either. Six bubbles for Real and the same for Barcelona is a price worth bringing such a show to the country – specifically to Jeddah. No Harlem Globetrotters, because in this case the performers are selected jugglers, but the best of the best. At least on Barcelona’s side, because Real was again far from reaching the level of its eternal rival.
Spanish Super Cup. Wojciech Szczęsny received a red card in El Clasico
This amounts to abusing the victim. It already seemed that October’s image of Carlo Ancelotti’s miserable team would be forgotten. Real is again intense, dynamic and fast – this was the impression we had when the score on the board pointed to the Royals. One could talk about a stroke of luck when Raphinha missed the target with a header from a few meters, but the counterattack that Real launched a moment later was downright perfect.
Vinicius canceled out Marc Casado, passed the ball to Kylian Mbappe, and he did the rest, rushing at the goal at great speed and beating Wojciech Szczęsny.
However, this was the last moment of weakness for Barcelona as a team. Another unit, Szczęsny, made a terrible mistake. Again in the clash with Mbappe, who landed on the ground after a tackle in front of the penalty area. Wojtek unexpectedly fulfilled what he announced immediately after retiring – he went to El Clasico and watched it from the stands. However, if he made anything worse, it was his situation in the competition with Inaki Pena.
It was already a mess on the pitch anyway. Szczęsny was going to the shower when Barcelona was leading 5-1. Even the fact that Rodrygo converted the free kick he caused into a goal was not enough to get Real back into the game.
Real Madrid – FC Barcelona. Goal and assist by Robert Lewandowski in the Spanish Super Cup
Robert Lewandowski may have stumbled a bit and stopped, but when necessary, he started to scrap Real Madrid. He had Antonio Ruediger in his pocket and could only commit fouls and ram the Polish attacker. However, the frame will not be a direct physical duel between the two, but the moment when Lewandowski noticed that the German was positioning poorly and took advantage of it in his first contact with the ball by sending a perpendicular pass to Lamine Yamal.
It’s obvious that Yamal had to do his part, nod to his opponent, make a great try, but that’s all magic touch Robert needs to be appreciated. He did much better than Eduardo Camavidze, who instead of making an impressive intervention in his own sixteen, played the role of Paweł Nastula and hit Gavi in the thigh. Lewandowski had to take the penalty kickwhich usually succeeds in making us forget about Real’s good start.
-We put it out of our minds for good three minutes later. Raphinha atoned for the miss that resulted in a Real goal with a brilliant header from Jules Kounde’s deep cross. Both then and on the wasted opportunity, the Royals’ defense was weak. The disorganization and disorganization of Carlo Ancelotti’s team is highlighted by the last action before the break. Barcelona’s counter-attack was born from a corner kick for Real.
Three passes, sixth gear was engaged and Alejandro Balde celebrated the goal. If the counterattack of Vinicius and Mbappe was perfect, the one of Yamala, Raphinhia and Balde even exceeded perfection.
Kylian Mbappe is the only plus for Real
There was nothing to collect from Real Madrid, it turned to dust within forty-five minutes. Even in the previous confrontation with Barcelona, things did not turn out to be so brutal. As if that wasn’t enough, Raphinha scored again right after the break, again toying with the defense in white shirts. As if he really wanted to emphasize that this is just a repeat of entertainment, another day at the office.
Then it ended with a four-goal advantage, and now it had to be the same.
It didn’t work out, but only because Szczęsny’s red card disturbed the current rhythm of the game, the crazy pace set mainly by Barcelona. The only consolation for a Royal fan is that Kylian Mbappe, the one about whom there were many well-deserved memes after the previous El Clasico, arrived this time. He was the only one, but still – he arrived. He almost scored a double at the very end and reduced the shameful defeat even further.
