On a shortened route due to yesterday’s heavy snowfall which did not allow the entire track to be prepared but under a beautiful sun that illuminated the Austrian town, the St. Anton descent saw Lara Gut-Behrami finish only in 13th place. Malorie Blanc, who finished in 2nd place starting with number 46, kept the Red Cross colors high. The 21-year-old Swiss, super G junior world champion and vice-champion in the freestyle, managed to repeat a great performance as she had done in training, to achieve an extraordinary result in his second World Cup race!

The Ticino rider, for her part, paid dearly for a big mistake in the upper part, where she went out very wide in a curve to the left, and a couple of other inaccuracies. The best to interpret the course, which presented itself in very different conditions compared to the only test on Thursday, was once again Federica Brignone, who had already dominated in training.

The Italian, with her first success in the downhill (8th podium) and her 30th overall triumph in the World Cup, preceded the young Swiss and the Czech Ester Ledecka. Also noteworthy is the performance of Lindsey Vonn, good sixth. The American, on her first free ascent after her return to competition and down with number 32, sent shivers to the partial podium, missing out by just 0″15. As for the other Swiss teams, Corinne Suter (15th) also finished less than a second behind the Italian. Good performance also for Janine Schmitt, 19th, who preceded Michelle Gisin (21st). The other Red Cross teams are out of the points.
