“A bolt from the blue in my life.” Yaël Braun-Pivet revealed, this Friday, January 10, that she was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. “Today, I am cured,” declared the President of the National Assembly. She spoke about this ordeal in an interview with mesdames.media and on her X account (formerly Twitter).
“No one is prepared to have cancer. I lived with the uncertainty of the diagnosis, the anxiety of the operation, the wait for the analysis results, the daily life of the treatments. Today I am fine“, indicated Yaël Braun-Pivet. The President of the Assembly is “under hormone therapy”.
“I had breast cancer which was detected as part of a traditional screening which allowed me to catch it early and to be able to have surgery, radiotherapy and follow-up behind it”, also affirmed the elected official. In 2023, more than 61,000 breast cancers will be diagnosed in France.
“In 2022, in the series of New Year’s resolutions, I said to myself: ‘come on, I’m going now’. I made an appointment for a mammogram… and it was on this occasion that my cancer was detected“, explained Yaël Braun-Pivet. On her X account, the President of the National Assembly sends a message to women.
“So, if you need to make a good resolution at the start of the year, I can only recommend that you go get tested. Breast cancer, colon cancer, cervical cancer…: don’t wait any longer“, wrote the political leader on the social network.
