They call on postgraduate graduates in 2024 to present doctoral theses within the framework of the
Jorge Alonso Chair Award 2025
To the best theses in Social Sciences
Aim: promote and publicly recognize research on the topics to which the Chair is dedicated.
Themes: anti-capitalist struggles and resistance, emancipatory social movements, autonomy from below.
Bases:
- Doctoral theses completed by Mexican and foreign people in a Mexican institution will be accepted. As well as those completed by Mexican people in postgraduate courses in any country written or translated into Spanish whose content refers to the topics of the call.
- Research will be awarded for its originality and theoretical and methodological contributions to the study of anti-capitalist, emancipatory and autonomy-promoting social subjects and processes; so that emerging and alternative critical thinking is recognized.
- Theses that have been approved between January 1 and December 31, 2024 may compete.
- The theses will be received from the publication of this call and until April 11, 2025 at 3 p.m.

Required documentation:
- Copy of thesis (PDF).
- Summary of the thesis, in a maximum of five pages.
- Author's curriculum vitae.
- Copy of the doctoral examination certificate.
- Email account and telephone number (landline and/or cell phone) for your location.
Jury:
The nominated theses will be evaluated by a jury appointed by the Bi-Institutional commission of the Jorge Alonso Chair.
The opinion issued by the jury will be final and, if applicable, the award may be considered void. The jury will resolve unforeseen situations.
Award:
The chair's prize for the best thesis consists of digital publication, once the person who wrote it had incorporated the jury's recommendations to convert the thesis into a book.
The opinion will be announced no later than September on the chair's website (www.catedraalonso-ciesas.udg.mx)
