“No one understands anything”: Mediapart’s event film on the Libyan affair, in theaters Wednesday

LeThe historic trial of the Libyan financing of Nicolas Sarkozy opened yesterday Monday January 6. On this occasion, Mediapart, which revealed this affair in 2011, produced a film to explain everything to you.

A story that is ultimately quite simple, despite its abundance, its multiple twists and turns and characters: “The judges say that there was an alleged corruption pact which was established, between 2005 and 2007, between the cabinet of Nicolas Sarkozy at the Ministry of the Interior and the Libyan dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi”summarizes Fabrice Arfi.

Its title: Nobody understands anythingan ironic allusion to a phrase from Nicolas Sarkozy who, for more than a decade, as our revelations progressed, denied and called it a conspiracy.

This event film, financed by thousands of donors, is released in theaters on Wednesday January 8, with debate screenings throughout . Why make a film about this affair? Why is this extraordinary investigation important? What does it say about our democracy?

A show presented by Mathieu Magnaudeix.

Our guests:

  • Fabrice Arfi, co-head of the Mediapart Investigations division;
  • Karl Laske, journalist at Mediapart;
  • Yannick Kergoatdirector.
