Best NBA Underdog Pick for January 6: Suns Moneyline at +135

Monday’s nine-game NBA slate will feature nine games between 7:00 and 10:00pm ET and there are plenty of enticing opportunities to double your money with a plus-money bet. The spread is less than five points at BetMGM for five of the contests, but one option seems particularly appealing. Let’s go over the best underdog team to wager on ahead of the action.

Suns ML at 76ers (+135BetMGM)

The Phoenix Suns will enter this road matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers having lost four straight games. It’s concerning that the Suns lost the two games following Devin Booker’s return from injury, but the underdogs have the tools to get the job done against a 76ers team that’s 5-9 at home.

Philadelphia has gone 1-2 straight up over their previous three games while Kelly Oubre Jr. has been out with a fractured hand. His absence could give Phoenix an edge, as the Suns are loaded with capable wing scorers with Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in his new bench role. The 76ers don’t have the bodies to score with and defend that trio on paper, especially with Paul George averaging 14.1 points on 38.3 % shooting through 13 games with Embiid. Post play will also be a factor, though.

Joel Embiid has been listed as questionable ahead of games because of a foot injury and is taking on a full workload. The big man will surely be a hassle for Mason Plumlee, who’s been inserted into the starting lineup for Jusuf Nurkic. Embiid has scored at least 27 points in his previous five contests and is expected to dominate. He’ll need help to get the job done, though. Bettors who think George won’t do enough to match the offensive production of Embiid and Tyrese Maxey should put their money on the visitors.
