Thousands of tons of snow tumble down a slope at more than 100 km/h and plunge onto a road. Luckily, there were no casualties, but the road had to be cut for several hours, leading to an endless line of stopped cars. This is one of the consequences of the impressive snowstorm which has swept across the central United States since Saturday January 4. In Kansas, authorities have already counted more than 50 pileups and are asking residents to limit their travel.
Snow, blizzard, ice, the elements are unleashed, paralyzing a large part of the country. Around fifty airports are affected. More than 60 million Americans are in the path of the storm, which stretches 1,400 miles from west to east. States still spared are preparing.
