Stormy Daniels affair – Donald Trump: the President of the United States will receive his sentence ten days before his inauguration

Donald Trump must be sentenced on January 10 in the Stormy Daniels affair for which he was found guilty of 34 counts, a judge of the Supreme Court of the State of New York decided this Friday, who however excludes any prison sentence.

Juan Merchan rejected the American president-elect's request to cancel the procedure because of his victory in the presidential election last November. Donald Trumpwho was convicted of 34 counts of forgery by a jury in May for trying to conceal the payment of $130,000 to the porn actress Stormy Daniels in order to cover up a sex scandal during his first electoral campaign, in 2016.

He was initially due to receive his sentence at the end of November, but the same magistrate decided to postpone the sentence. In a statement, Donald Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, considered that it was out of the question that the president-elect, who will be sworn in on January 20, could be sentenced to the slightest sentence. “This unfounded procedure should never have been initiated and the Constitution requires that it be immediately annulled”he said.
