A British woman missing for 52 years has been found safe after police released an old photo of her.
It was one of the oldest missing persons cases in the United Kingdom. In 1972, Sheila Fox, then 16 years old, mysteriously disappeared. At the time, the Brit lived with her parents in Coventry, in the county of West Midlands, England, and police suspected she had begun a romantic relationship with an older man.
For decades, his loved ones, like investigators, tried to discover the truth about this strange story. Was Sheila still alive or had she died somewhere? Had she left her home deliberately or had she been kidnapped? So many questions that have remained unanswered for 52 years, but which have finally found a solution.

On Sunday, December 29, the police launched an appeal to try to locate her, revealing to the public an old photo of the missing woman. A black and white image, of poor quality, but which quickly made the rounds in the media and social networks. It only took a few hours for the investigation, which had been stagnating for so many years, to finally move forward.

Found on the other side of the country
The “Guardian” reports that after being recognized in this photo, Sheila Fox was found safe and sound by the agents who reported on Wednesday 1is January that she was based on the other side of the country. According to the English police, at the time of the search after her disappearance, officers feared that she had changed her name. After finding her, they discovered that she was actually living a normal life.
The sergeant Jenna Shaw told the Guardian: “We are absolutely delighted to have found Sheila after more than 5 decades.” When the team in charge of this cold case started looking into this story again, they had to “review all the evidence concerning her until, finally, they found a photo of her”. It is therefore this image which made it possible to finally resolve the mystery, in just a few days. “Every missing person has a story, and their families, friends, deserve to know what happened to them, and hopefully, to be reunited with them,” commented Jenna Shaw, adding that Sheila’s parents are today dead.
