André Samuel, one of the very first managers of the South Toulouse radio station, has left us. Arriving at Radio Galaxie in the mid-1990s, as part of the Handi Pro supported employment scheme, André Samuel spent nearly 20 years running the radio as antenna manager then, from 2014, ten more years as a permanent member of the office.
This Audois, who, in his youth, was one of Georges Brassens' playmates, then set up as a craftsman in Martes-Tolosane. But an accident amputated part of his hand and he turned to radio. Initially a presenter, his strong character quickly allowed him to take editorial responsibility for the channel. Responsibility that he took very seriously both in the search for quality of the programs offered, as well as in the care taken in verifying information or even in managing the good atmosphere within the teams who keep the memory of him from a frank but quick-witted person who always listens. It was he who knew how to set up the “Radio Galaxie tone” and transmit his passion and rigor to the new members who arrived, whether they were permanent, volunteers or speakers. He was really very attached to this radio station to such an extent that, a few months after asserting his retirement rights, he asked to come back and participate because he missed this atmosphere of the studios and meetings.
The members of the office and the radio staff sympathize with the family's pain and offer their condolences to his daughter and two granddaughters. A cremation is planned for Monday, January 6 at 10 a.m. in Lavernose-Lacasse.
