Cn Wednesday January 1, the north-western quarter of wakes up under the effect of an active depression which crosses the Channel, bringing with it powerful winds and strong gusts. The most exposed capes of Cotentin and Hauts-de-France record impressive gusts, exceeding 110 km/h. On the rest of the , Breton and northern coasts, the wind blows at an intensity of 90 km/h, with localized peaks which can reach even higher speeds at times.

Inland, although the wind loses intensity, the gusts remain strong. In , Normandy, Hauts-de-France and even Île-de-France, they reach 70 to 80 km/h. This episode, which began during the night, should continue throughout the afternoon before gradually easing in the evening, according to Météo-France.
