Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Robin Hood is back in this cult 90s film.
What if you spent one of the last evenings of the year watching a great adventure film, a true classic of the 90s? We're not going to beat around the bush: it would frankly be a shame to miss out on Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, one of the best adaptations of the famous myth broadcast this Sunday on TF1, starring a Kevin Costner who was already clan leader three decades before the Yellowstone series!
Released in theaters in 1991, Robin Hood, prince of thieves tells the story of Robin of Locksley who, after escaping from a Jerusalem jail, discovers to his horror that his native lands in Great Britain have been set ablaze, with a Sheriff of Nottingham oppressing the local populations and acts like a real tyrant. Considered an outlaw, Robin then took refuge in Sherwood Forest. There he meets bandits with whom he allies to challenge the Sheriff, who seeks to seize the royal throne.
High quality entertainment, Robin Hood, prince of thieves will bring epic wind to your living room! Dark, bloody and funny at the same time, this feature film directed by Kevin Reynolds (Waterworld) who is very comfortable filming battle scenes is distinguished by its incredible casting: alongside Kevin Costner as heroes of Sherwood, we find Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (but what happened to her?), Christian Slater and above all an absolutely brilliant Alan Rickman in the guise of the Sheriff of Nottingham.
5 million admissions in France, millions of dollars and a hit!
Praised by spectators with a nice average of 3.8 out of 5, Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (in which there is a legendary cameo, don't click if you want to be surprised!) was a huge public success. The film, which grossed more than $390 million worldwide, attracted nearly 5 million spectators to French cinemas.
Finally, it’s impossible not to say a word about the flagship song of this excellent Robin Hood, prince of thieves. Nominated for an Oscar, (Everything I Do) I Do It for You by Bryan Adams is an absolute hit which ends up making this feature film a must-have in popular entertainment.
Tonight on TF1 at 9:10 p.m.
