In third position at 588 minutes, Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) has also gained 82 minutes from Richomme since Saturday evening's score. The Vendée skipper was the fastest over the last 24 hours, ahead of Dalin and Richomme, who advanced on Sunday morning at a very slow pace compared to his two immediate pursuers.
Bestaven close to abandonment?
Victim on Saturday of damage to his helm and the loss of his rudder which made his boat undirectable, the winner of the previous edition Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq V), 11th almost 2,000 nm from the lead, found himself still in the Pacific Ocean approaching Cape Horn.
He could be forced to retire in the coming hours.
