PORTRAIT – François Hollande's former Minister of Labor is returning to service alongside François Bayrou. He has broken his ban with the Socialist Party since 2021.

Nine years later, François Rebsamen returns to government. The former socialist, Minister of Labor under François Hollande (2014-2015), will be in charge of Regional Planning and Decentralization in the Bayrou team. The rumor had been circulating for several days and the person concerned made a formal offer of service in La Tribune Dimanche. “I am ready to commit”he declared on the eve of his official appointment. Rave about the new prime minister, “the man for the job”François Rebsamen believes that the centrist has proven that he knows how to make “compromise” by calling to vote for François Hollande in 2012.

The Burgundian elected official broke with the leadership of the Socialist Party (PS) shortly before the last presidential election, in 2022, where he supported Emmanuel Macron, after having already pleaded for a «coalition» with him in 2017.
