The day after his victory in Zonhoven, Mathieu van der Poel also won the Superprestige cross of Mol. The Dutch world champion started patiently and shook off his last opponent, Laurens Sweeck, in the sixth round.
“I didn't expect this,” Mathieu van der Poel responded somewhat surprised after his return on Sunday in Zonhoven. The Dutch world champion immediately won his first cross of this winter with a great display of power. After just one minute, Van der Poel, who had started from the third row, was off on his own.
Things didn't go that fast for the Dutchman a day later in Mol. Van der Poel started from the front row on Monday, but this time he started more patiently. Only in lap four did he place a first gear in the Kempen sand.
For a moment, that acceleration seemed to be decisive, but a strong Laurens Sweeck came back from the background. Our compatriot got stuck into Van der Poel's wheel, but two laps later he had to give up.

Van der Poel started his solo and quickly built up a half-minute lead. At the finish he eventually won with a 50 second lead over Sweeck, good for two victories in as many days. Michael Vanthourenhout finished third at a minute and a half.
Ceylin Alvarado was the best among the women, just like on Sunday. After an exciting cross, the Dutch woman defeated her compatriot Lucinda Brand, Inge van der Heijden completed the Dutch podium. Sanne Cant defeated Julie Brouwers in a Belgian duel for fourth place.
