As the end-of-year holidays approach, snow and cold have returned to part of the French territory. The Haut-Rhin prefecture takes stock of the situation, and advises road users to take care.

Be careful in the passes

“Due to a heavy accumulation of snow on the high slopes of the Vosges relief and
quantities of snow still expected, Météo has issued a warning bulletin
snow slides. Given that the snow cover in the mountains is not stabilized, of the snow slides or avalanches can survive on the steepest slopes, in the Vosges massiffrom today and the following days,” explained the institution on Sunday, December 22 in a press release.

The prefecture insists on the risks of taking the passes. “Traffic conditions are particularly difficult due to heavy snowfall at the Col de la Schlucht and in other mountain areas of Haut-Rhin. »

Several passes saw traffic being seriously disrupted, such as the Bonhomme and Bussang passes, in particular due to several blocked heavy goods vehicles.

Snow is still expected in the south of the department.
