François Bayrou sent a seductive letter to the LR.

POLITICS – Between François Bayrou and Les Républicains, it’s a long story of “I love you, me neither”. The first being now at Matignon and the second in the starting blocks to keep their ministerial moroccos, the love-hate relationship reaches its climax. So much so that the Prime Minister took up his pen this Monday, December 23 to try to reassure his allies and give them some assurances before the official announcement of his government, which should take place at the end of the day at the earliest.

The first subject raised by François Bayrou concerns “state authority”, “first of the conditions for leading the recovery”. A major theme for LR, who should appreciate that the boss of MoDem thought of including it at the top of the list. “Order and security are the very condition of life in common, especially for the weakest who must feel protected”he wrote to the executives of Laurent Wauquiez’s party, assuring “share this requirement” with them.

Another commitment that the Béarnais makes: the “recovery of public finances”. A true totem of the right, who prides himself on being a good manager, even if it means cutting spending. François Bayrou intends to present “a budget firmly anchored in a credible perspective”. “We owe it to our fellow citizens, those of today and those of tomorrow”he defends. He promises to achieve “savings on all unproductive expenses, over time”.

« Simplification administrative »

Belly dancing towards Laurent Wauquiez goes further, since François Bayrou ventures into other lands: “administrative simplification”, “industrial production”, “economic sovereignty”, “decentralization”… Here is an almost exhaustive list of the right's favorite subjects, to which it would be appropriate to add immigration, absent from the mail.

“The question of access to public services in all territories and their ability to meet the needs of our fellow citizens is also central”highlights the Prime Minister, for whom “greater trust must be placed in local authorities and their elected representatives”. Here again, an obvious nod to the LR, who have a majority in the Senate and are attached to their local roots. A very seductive letter, sent before yet another interview between Laurent Wauquiez and François Bayrou in Matignon, undoubtedly the last before the government's announcement.
