There will be moments of pause in German professional Football after the fatal attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. “German professional football is shocked by the attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg,” said the German Football League (DFL) on Saturday morning. In memory of the victims of the attack, the DFL recommends that the clubs in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga wear a mourning ribbon at the weekend's games, and it also supports minutes of silence in the stadiums.
It is unclear how the perpetrator was able to get onto the Christmas market site – despite police checkpoints and concrete pillars. Apparently he used tram tracks, said ZDF reporter Peter Kunz. 21.12.2024 | 2:52 min
