Lara Gut-Behrami sets the fastest time.

The podium

Although Lara Gut-Behrami drove at the limit and was enough for the best time, the Austrian Cornelia Hütter was still 18 hundredths faster. The Italian Sofia Goggia came third.

Scene of the race

Gut-Behrami's last victory in St. Moritz was three years ago, also in the Super-G. A year ago there was at least one podium place in the same discipline (3rd), now the Ticino has improved again, but it wasn't enough to win. “I've never seen Lara take risks like that, she really wanted to be at the top,” said ex-ski racer and current SRF expert Tina Weirather. Maybe there will be victory in the second Super-G tomorrow? But how much risk does it still allow?

This is how the other Swiss fared

Corinne Suter is fast again after recovering from a torn cruciate ligament, her speed is back. The world champion and Olympic champion came in a good tenth place. «Overall, I'm very satisfied. It's a step in the right direction. I had sections where I drove very fast. The basic speed is slowly coming back and that’s extremely nice,” said the 30-year-old.

Michelle Gisin lost a lot of time. Jasmina Suter was able to spectacularly avoid a fall, but a top time was no longer possible.

Slope whispers

How did fans long for Lindsey Vonn's comeback? Why did some of the experts talk so much? And now? The American is back in the World Cup at 40, she came 14th in the first race. “In Cortina she can fight for victory again,” said Weirather on SRF. When it became clear that Vonn was making her comeback in the Engadin, ticket sales skyrocketed. And because the weather was great today, more fans certainly came to the track.

Lindsey Vonn with a strong performance.
