After four years of waiting, justice has finally delivered its verdict. This Friday, the Paris Special Assize Court rendered its decision concerning the eight accused in the case of the assassination of Samuel Paty.
The verdict
All eight defendants were found guilty. The two friends of Samuel Paty's killer are found guilty of complicity in assassination, indicates l'AFP. Naïm Boudaoud and Azim Epsirkhanov are sentenced to 16 years of criminal imprisonment. Brahim Chnina, who relayed the lies of his daughter, a college student, is sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Eight accused
The French national anti-terrorism prosecution on Monday requested sentences ranging from one year in prison to 16 years of criminal imprisonment for the eight accused involved, to varying degrees, in the assassination of a teacher, Professor Samuel Paty, on October 16, 2020.
The attorney general also requested 18 months in prison with a probationary suspension of 3 years against the Nîmoise nicknamed “Sweet scar”Priscilla Mangel. Concerning Louqmane Ingar, 2 years of imprisonment with a probationary suspension of 3 years are requested. For Yusuf Cinar, the prosecution requires one year of imprisonment with socio-judicial monitoring for 5 years.
The highest sentence was requested for the meeting of the Russian of Chechen origin Azim Epsirkhanov, 23 years old, tried for complicity in terrorist assassination, but for whom the accusation was requested from the court to reclassify him as an association of terrorist criminals .
Aziz Epsirkhanov was one of two friends of Anzorov, assassin and killed on the day of the tragedy. With him, Naïm Boudaoud, 22 years old. They are appearing for complicity in terrorist assassination, a crime punishable by life imprisonment.
The day before the attack, they notably accompanied Anzorov to a cutlery in Rouen to purchase a knife corresponding to the one found near his corpse. Naïm Boudaoud was also with Anzorov for the purchase, a few hours before the crime, of two Airsoft pistols and steel balls in a store in Cergy.
