Pro D2 – Brive ends the year well by winning Agen and consolidates its place on the podium

At the opening of the 15th day of the championship, Brive, carried by a sparkling Curwin Bosch, danced in the rain by achieving another success against (32-18). Thanks to this victory, Lawes’ partners are assured of finishing the year on the Pro D2 podium.

It was not the day to take a Brive supporter outside. Already, Amédée-Domenech, in addition to his faithful, welcomed the rain for this game between CAB and Agen. Then, because the Coujoux were 12 wins in a row at home. Enough to make those who believe in lucky charms or lucky numbers sweat…

Rest assured, Brive remained down to earth by validating a new victory in its den (32-18). The Broncan players were still able to count on a pack of forwards in great shape to bring down the Lot-et-Garonnais. In the ranking, with this success, the Corréziens (2nd) move up to (1st), with 46 units. Agen (9th, 31 points) will slide into the second part of the table.

Agen was too undisciplined

Strong on its bases, Brive struck straight away with its house specialty: the carried ball. Five meters away, Marais grabbed the ball before offering it to Chauvac. Strongly, the left pillar scored his second try of the season (7-0, 6th). Not impressed, Agen took possession again. After making a mistake against the Brivistes, the Calvet gang found the solution on the wing. Tightened around the rucks, the locals forgot Tolot, well offset by Pourteau and Searle (7-5, 20th).

In a lively first period despite difficult playing conditions, Brive increased its lead in numerical superiority. For a cynical foul in the scoring area, Socino received a warning. At the end of the wing, Railevu, on an offering from Ferté, dove in a corner (12-5, 28th). Pourteau reduced the gap following a poorly executed camp exit by the Coujoux (12-8, 33rd). In difficulty in the scrum, with four penalties during the first 40 minutes, Lombard-Buret was in turn warned (39th), but the CAB was not able to take advantage of it before the break.

Bosch was in all the right places

Like the first act, Brive and Agen decided to fight blow for blow. Starting from the opposing 40 meters, Bosch scored a masterpiece. The South African deceived the defense with a fake pass. In one on one against the last defender, he won his duel with an inside hook to finish his race between the posts (19-8, 43rd).

Well set for a quiet meeting, Brive was caught up by his indiscipline. In turn, Lawes (47th), for repeated fouls, and Rokoduru (49th), for a high tackle on Macharashvili, received a warning. SU Agen, through its serial scorer Iban Etcheverry, was able to take advantage (19-15, 47th).

The scorers made a pass (22-18, 54th 58th), before Brive found its basics. At the end of a school maul, Benjamin Boudou concluded this collective blow (29-18, 65th). Despite a clear advantage, Brive preferred to take cover with a penalty from Bosch (32-18, 68th) before trying to win the offensive bonus. However, the Broncan gang showed clumsiness at the end of the game, and was not able to steal the throne of Pro D2 in Grenoble. After the break, on January 10, Brive will travel to for a top-of-the-table duel. A little earlier in the evening, Agen will host Provence .
