During a debate on BFMTV, the LFI MEP accused the RN deputy of “sexist remarks” when he had told her to “calm down” and “have a glass of water”.
The sequence already has more than 250,000 views on X. Tuesday evening, BFMTV organized a debate with several political figures. Among these, the Insoumise European deputy Manon Aubry and the RN deputy Julien Odoul. The exchanges were cordial until migration issues were raised. While the melenchonist pointed “the indecent assimilation made by the extreme right between immigration and insecurity”the nationalist cut him off to accuse him of “distinguish people based on skin color, ethnicity or religion”.
This is too much for the LFI MEP, who explodes: “I’m tired of you not letting me finish my sentences (…) Enough!” Julien Odoul doesn’t see it that way. He advises his opponent to «calmer»se “relax” et “have a glass of cold water”. Faced with these “sexist remarks”Manon Aubry threatens to leave the set: “I take my microphone and I stop!” She receives the support of the environmentalist deputy Sandrine Rousseau, also present on the set, who accuses the nationalist of “sexism”.
“junk feminist”
The moderator of the debate, Benjamin Duhamel, intervenes to reframe Julien Odoul: “These are things that are unacceptable (…) In a discussion, we do not address people, especially the two women who are on this set, by telling them to calm down.” While Manon Aubry thanks him for this reframing, the elected RN criticizes the journalist for having a “bias” and asks him to“Stop” son «sketch». “We continue the invectives!”exclaims MoDem deputy Richard Ramos. “This is the true face of the RN…”sighs Mathieu Lefèvre, Renaissance deputy.
Calm returns to the set. L’Insoumise recommends that Julien Odoul “make it small”. “The way you address the women of this country is despicable and unbearable. You don’t know how to let a woman finish her sentence.”she is indignant. Julien Odoul cuts her off again to call her “junk feminist”. A bell rings to end the debate and confirm the impression this sequence gives: that of a playground.
