Breakthrough

Scott’s breakthrough came in 2022 when he achieved several significant milestones.

He won his first PDC Challenge Tour title in Milton Keynes, defeating Robert Owen 5-2 in the final.

Remarkably, he won a second Challenge Tour title later the same day, beating Lee Evans 5-2 in the showpiece.

But his most notable achievement of 2022 was winning the Players Championship 17, where he triumphed over Nathan Aspinall in the final.

This victory was particularly significant as Scott became only the third player in PDC history to win a ranking title without holding a tour card, following in the footsteps of Joe Murnan and Krzysztof Ratajski.

2024 PDC World Darts Championship

The PDC World Darts Championship 2024 proved to be a defining moment in Scott’s career.

He made a sensational run to the semi-finals, claiming memorable victories over top players including Michael van Gerwen, Damon Heta, and Danny Noppert.

His quarter-final victory over van Gerwen, winning 5-3, was particularly impressive, cementing his status as a rising star in the sport.

Controversy

Scott’s maverick personality has endeared him to fans, but his exuberant celebrations also have led to some controversy.

He faced criticism for remarks made after a 2024 World Championship match, for which he later apologised.

Speaking after the win that put him into the hat for the last 16, Scott praised German fans in the crowd, but also mentioned a derogatory song that is connected with English football hooligans.

Scott said: “I’ve never had the crowd on my side like that.

“I know we won two World Wars and one World Cup.

“The German fans in here were huge. All I could hear was these guys.

“What a game. I’m so happy to get to the other side as a winner.

“I wasn’t expecting it to go all the way to sudden death. I’m absolutely knackered.”

Scott later took to social media to apologise for the remarks and admitted his words had been “a bit stupid” and said “in the heat of the moment”.

He wrote on X/Twitter: “In regards to what I said on stage earlier, it was a bit stupid!

“Love the people, the food and the venues!

“What was said was in the heat of the moment after a WICKED GAME vs Martin!

“Nothing was meant to harm anyone’s feelings and I apologise profusely! Much love.”
