On the occasion of the broadcast of the TV film By your side, this Monday, December 16 in the evening on TF1, in which Jarry plays and which is inspired by his complex bond with his father, carried away by illness, Gala invites you to look back on the reaction of his family, the first time she saw.
This Monday, December 16 in the evening, TF1 will broadcast the TV film By your side, in which Jarry opposite Didier Bourdon, Marie-Anne Chazel and Terence Telle, and which is inspired by his story with his father. When the feature film was revealed to viewers for the first time, in October 2021, the comedian, actor and TV host spoke of his family's reaction to this film directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and which tells his own life and his chaotic ties with his dad, who died of a brain tumor many years ago, when he was still only 21 years old.
Interviewed by TV Star on October 4, 2021, shortly before the first broadcast of his TV film, Jarry spoke about this “tribute” which he does to his dad and which seemed to please those close to him a lot. “After laughing a lot during the first part of the film, they were extremely touched,” he said, giving details of this emotion felt by those who were also raised by this same father to whom the story is dedicated. “My brothers thought it was a beautiful tribute to dad. Above all, we told each other that we loved each other. Even if we are not the perfect family – because sometimes there are disagreements and misunderstandings – we are united”, declared the comedian with tenderness and gratitude.
A father and son reunited thanks to illness
During numerous interviews, print or television, Jarry has already taken the opportunity to salute the memory of his father, who died suddenly due to illness and with whom he did not always agree. Indeed, at the beginning of his life, the actor had to face homophobic comments from him, even though he himself was not heterosexual. Fortunately, before his father died, he had the opportunity to explain things to him, calming down their ties which had until then been complex (for more than twenty years anyway). Very different from his father, more sensitive, more artistic and above all homosexual, he managed to get closer to him by accompanying him at the end of his life, as he recounts in his TV film with great sensitivity.
