They thought they were attending a lively debate on the closing match of the 15th day of Ligue 1 between PSG and Lyon, and viewers of the L'Équipe channel were treated to the world darts championship. This Sunday, December 15, “L'Équipe du soir”, an event usually presented by Olivier Ménard from 10:40 p.m. on channel 21, was not broadcast.
“No Evening Shift tonight”
The channel communicated on X (formerly Twitter) at 11:12 p.m. “Due to a technical problem, no Evening Team this evening… Meet on the L'Équipe channel to experience the 2nd round of the world darts championship by Frenchman Thibault Tricole against world number 1“, we could read. Instead of the analysis of the Ligue 1 match, viewers were therefore able to follow live the second match of the Frenchman, who finally lost sharply against the Briton Luke Humphries.

And for those who were hoping for Olivier Ménard and his columnists to arrive on stage just after the World Darts match, it was yet another disappointment. The competition, for which the L'Équipe channel acquired live broadcast rights for the first time this year, gave way to sporting lumbering from 11:50 p.m. According to information from Puremédias, the “technical problem” which prevented the broadcast of “L'Équipe du soir” was in fact a problem linked to the set's installations. “The sets then the lights failed“, a journalist from the channel told us. The show's teams were waiting for a possible recovery of the situation before going on air but the problem was not resolved in time.
