Solidarity is trying to organize itself. While relief operations are being organized in Mayotte and aid is beginning to be delivered, following the passage of Cyclone Chido, several organizations have requested the generosity of French people. “Faced with the distress of hard-hit populations, the Fondation de France is launching an appeal for national solidarity for Mayotte”indicated the private organization.

In addition to the action of the public authorities, it is committed to helping “the most vulnerable disaster victims” and to follow “to closely monitor evolving needs and will adapt its actions according to the situation of the people most in distress.”

The Red Cross also indicated this Sunday, December 15 that “Reserves of drinking water and food have been pre-positioned, and our teams on site are ready to intervene.” In a publication on Facebook, the NGO specifies that “more than 30 tons of emergency equipment are ready to be transported as soon as conditions permit”including housing reconstruction kits, solar terminals and essential hygiene kits. In addition to the search for donations, mainly aimed at French people in mainland France, calls for local volunteers have also been launched. The national police of Mayotte therefore made a call for volunteers in Mamoudzou to “continue to remove branches and metal sheets” following the passage of the cyclone. “If you have tools or a suitable vehicle, your help will be a major asset”specified the announcement, published on Facebook.
