Gerry Cardinale is unlikely to attend the special game between AC Milan and Genoa, according to a report. Despite the club turning 125 years old, there are no indications of the American jumping on a plane to Italy.
In addition to the special-edition kit, 125 years of existence will also be celebrated with a ceremony prior to the game against Genoa. Several legends are expected to attendsuch as Billy Costacurta and Franco Baresi, and it should make for a good atmosphere.
However, as reported by Antonio Vitiello, there are currently no indications of the club owner Gerry Cardinale attending the game. While it’s possible he’s staying away to avoid antagonising the fans further, it certainly seems like a strange decision.
If anything, on an occasion like this, it would have been good for the American to show himself as the project has been heavily questioned in the last few months. There’s no doubt that it will become a talking point on social media if he doesn’t attend.
On the other hand, with or without Cardinale, a club like Milan deserves a nice celebration given just how much it has contributed to the world of football. Of course, a strong performance is also needed from Fonseca’s men.
