Manchester United will finally be a happy camp as Ruben Amorim’s men scripted a famous comeback to beat Pep Guardiola’s team in their own backyard.
In a team performance full of heroes, Amad’s goal plus winning the penalty stood out the most, as did Harry Maguire’s effort in shackling Erling Haaland.
United had to score two late goals after conceding another off a set-piece in the first half as the team’s frustrations reached a boiling point.
Rasmus Hojlund was at the centre of it as he squared up to Kyle Walker in the first half after what he deemed an aggressive push.
With the three points in the bag, Hojlund took the opportunity to gloat and fire a brutal dig at Walker.
Rasmus Hojlund’s scuffle with Kyle Walker, Joshua Zirkzee message
In the first half, just as Hojlund was about to jump to contest for a loose ball, Walker pushed him off the ball which sent him tumbling to the ground.
The Dane immediately perked up and went straight at Walker, incensed by the push which, combined with Hojlund’s momentum, could have been much worse.
Hojlund squared up to Walker as the two butted heads but the City captain then took an embarrassing dive while holding his head despite the United striker barely making any contact.
The result was Hojlund getting a yellow too when, ideally, Walker should have been sent off, first yellow for the push and the second for his theatrics.
Hojlund couldn’t end up making an impact during the game to give it back but like the true driven individual he is, he fired a brutal dig at Walker after the game.
Matching him was his striking partner, Joshua Zirkzee, who came up with a song reference to leave Man City under no doubts as to which camp Manchester belonged to.
Zirkzee said: “Paint the town red like Doja said”, referencing Doja Cat’s song “Paint the town red”.
Rasmus Hojlund’s brutal dig at Kyle Walker
Hojlund has always been known for his witty captions on Instagram which have even put him in hot water at times when the result is not positive.
Knowing that he had the most positive result in the bag, he went straight for the jugular this time, leaving nobody in any doubt as to what he thought of Walker’s antics.
Posting a picture of himself squaring up with Walker during the incident, Hojlund dedicated a poem to the City captain which read: “Manchester is red
Violets are blue
What a brilliant performance
But the Oscar goes to…”
No prizes for guessing the name he didn’t add at the end of that poem as the picture attached to the caption completed it for him.
United’s academy striking prodigy Chido Obi couldn’t resist the temptation of joining in on the fun, reacting with the crying face emoji.
Perhaps he can join Hojlund in the future for these shenanigans after being involved in some derby wins of his own!
