The end of the 12th day of Betclic Elite saw Paris lose at Le Mans, while ASVEL won in Nancy and Nanterre on the Gravelines-Dunkerque floor after extra time.
Beaten by ASVEL on Friday in the Euroleague, Paris (2nd) suffered a second defeat in a row, on the floor of Le Mans (7th)! The MSB won 84-76 against the players from the capital, at the end of a match where both teams had their periods. After a failed start to the game (4-10), Le Mans adjusted its sights and was ultimately only two points behind at the end of the first quarter (16-18). In the second, Paris regained a good lead (20-27) but did not manage to drive the point home and the Manceaux took the opportunity to equalize (29-29) then widen the gap before returning to the locker room (42 -36, mt). At the restart, the MSB stepped on the accelerator to take a thirteen point lead (51-38), but Paris returned to -2 after half an hour of play (59-57). The last quarter was ultimately not as rich in suspense as one might have imagined, since Le Mans quickly took a nine-point lead (71-62) and Paris never managed to come back. Trevor Hudgins was the great architect of this prestigious victory, with 28 points scored, but also 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Opposite, Tyson Ward scored 24 points, but TJ Shorts was content with 11 points while Nadir Hifi missed out on his match, with 5 points to 1/7 at 3 points. This makes two defeats in a row for the Parisians, who have a big week ahead of them, with two matches against Real Madrid and Fenerbahçe.
ASVEL continues
ASVEL (3rd), for its part, traveled to Nancy (12th), and the Villeurbannais enforced logic by winning 85-91 in Lorraine. Perhaps “rusty” after their Euroleague match 48 hours earlier, Pierric Poupet's men missed their start to the match (26-19 at the end of the first quarter) but they quickly equalized (27-27) before to return to the locker room with a two-point lead (42-44). The third quarter saw the two teams take the lead in turn, and ten minutes from the end, nothing was decided (66-69). But ASVEL raised its voice from the start of the last quarter, with a 14-3 which allowed it to create a gap. The SLUC held on and signed a 10-3 (81-88), but that was not enough to worry the Villeurbanne. Despite Chris Clemons' 26 points, Nancy lost at home while on the ASVEL side, the score was well distributed, with five players with 10 points or more (16 for Joffrey Lauvergne).
Nanterre in the snatch
Finally, in a mid-table match, Nanterre (10th) won 83-89 at Gravelines-Dunkerque (8th) after extra time. The Nanterriens won the first quarter 15-18, then trailed by two points at halftime (38-36). Carried by a 13-0 at the restart, the Ile-de-France residents widened a nice gap but the BCM did not give up and came back to -4 at the end of the third quarter (54-58), before equalizing (58- 58). Thanks to free throws in the money-time, Gravelines signed a 9-0 which allowed it to lead 70-64, but Nanterre managed to snatch extra time (73-73). An extension that the Nanterriens won 10-16. Ahmad Caver finished with 20 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds for the Ile-de-France residents and Chris Babb with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for the BCM.
